Why Am I Getting "Access Denied" Errors?

Troubleshoot access denied errors in AXP including permissions, roles, and location access issues.

Summary: If you're seeing "Access Denied" or "Permission Denied" errors in the Alliants Experience Platform (AXP), it means your current role doesn't have the necessary permissions for the action you're trying to perform. This article explains common causes and how to resolve access issues.

Permissions Required: Contact your brand admin to help update your role permissons.

Common Causes

Each user role in AXP has specific permissions that control what features and actions are available, thus the following can restrict your access:

1. Insufficient role permissions.

2. Location restrictions

3. Department restrictions.

4. Feature not enabled.

Resolution Steps

For Items 1-3 above:

1. If you are a Converser please reach out to your Brand Admin to complete these checks below. For Brand or Location Admins you can check your current role by:

(i) Navigating to Settings in the left handside menu.

(ii) Then clicking the Users tab.

(iii) Search for your user email.

(iv) Click into your user and see details in right hand panel.

2. Compare your role, location, department with the required permissions for the action you're trying to perform.

3. If you need additional access, contact your Brand Admin to adjust your role.

For Item 4 above:

1. Some features may not be enabled for your Brand or Location. Check with your Brand Admin whether the feature is available on your plan.

2. Some features require additional configuration before they become accessible. Your Brand Admin can contact their Alliants Customer Success Manager or if they do not have one they can reach out to success@alliants.app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can change my permissions?

A: Only Brand Administrators and users with administrative roles can modify user permissions. Contact your Brand Administrator to request changes to your role or access level.

Q:Why can I see a menu item but get an error when I click it?

A: Some menu items are visible to all users but require specific permissions to use. This helps users understand what features are available while maintaining security. Ask your Administrator for access if you need the feature.

Q:Can I request temporary elevated access?

A: Temporary access changes depend on your organisation's policies. Speak with your Brand Administrator about whether temporary role elevation is possible for your specific needs.
