Summary: Turn on browser and desktop notifications so you never miss a new guest message in AXP.
Enabling Notifications and Sound
🗒️ There are two types of alerts you'll get once notifications are turned on:
Browser Tab Notification – shows a blue icon on the browser tab when a guest message arrives.
Desktop Notification – shows a pop-up on your desktop for new unread messages.
Open AXP in your browser and click the control icon (–○ / ○–) next to
alliants.appin the address bar.In the panel that appears, toggle Notifications and Sound on or off as needed.
⚠️ If you don't see a Notifications or Sound toggle in this panel, your browser may not support it. In that case, allow them manually:
Go to
chrome://settings/content/notificationsfor notifications, orchrome://settings/content/soundfor sound — either paste the link into the address bar, or navigate manually: Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → Content → Notifications (or Additional content settings → Sound).Under Allowed to send notifications (or Allowed to play sound), click Add and enter
alliants.app.Sound alerts will now play for new notifications on AXP.
Common Questions
Q: Why can't I see notification or sound options when I click the control icon in Chrome?
A: Older versions of Chrome only showed these toggles in full browser settings. If your control icon panel doesn't have them, allow them manually at chrome://settings/content/notifications and chrome://settings/content/sound.
Q: Do I need to re-enable notifications every time I open the browser?
A: No. Once set, your preferences are saved to that browser. You'd only need to redo them if you clear your browser data or switch to a new device.
Q: Why am I not getting desktop notifications even though they're enabled in Chrome?
A: Check your operating system's notification settings too - the OS has its own permission for letting Chrome show notifications, separate from Chrome's own setting.
