How Do I Set Up Browser Notifications / pings and pop-ups?

Summary: To quickly identify pending messages, you can activate notification alerts in your browser. There are two types of notifications available:

  • Browser Tab Notification – Displays a blue icon in the browser tab when a guest message arrives.

  • Desktop Notification – Shows a pop-up window on your desktop for new unread messages.

Permissions Required: Role required in AXP to enable notifications are Converser, Location Admin, or Brand Admin.

Enabling Notifications in Browser

  1. Open AXP in your browser and click the control icon (–○ / ○–) next to alliants.app in the address bar.

  2. A settings panel will appear — toggle Notifications on or off as needed.

⚠️ Sound must be enabled separately through the browser's full settings.

  2. If you are using Google Chrome, navigate to:
chrome://settings/content/sound by pasting the link in the search bar or following these instructions step by step:

    2. Click Privacy and Security

    3. Click Site Settings

    4. Scroll to Content and click Additional content settings

  4. Sound alerts will now play for new notifications on AXP.

Common Questions

Why can't I see sound options when I click the control icon in Chrome?

Chrome removed the audio toggle from the site control panel. You now need to allow sound for AXP directly in Chrome settings at chrome://settings/content/sound.

Do I need to re-enable notifications every time I open the browser?

No — once enabled, your settings are saved per browser. You only need to reconfigure them if you clear your browser data or switch devices.

Why am I not receiving desktop notifications even though they're enabled?

Check that your operating system also allows Chrome to display notifications — this is a separate permission managed in your OS notification settings.
