Overview of Phone Number Handling in AXP
AXP processes guest phone numbers based on their settings in the Opera system. Opera’s designations, particularly for primary and secondary phone numbers, play a critical role in how AXP assigns phone number roles across profiles.
Single Primary Phone Number Rule
AXP strictly enforces a single-primary-phone-number-per-profile rule. If Opera contains multiple profiles sharing the same phone number:
The profile with the phone number marked as Primary in Opera will have the Primary designation in AXP.
Any additional profiles with the same phone number in Opera will instead have that phone number assigned as Secondary in AXP regardless of Opera’s input.
This ensures only one active "Primary" phone number across all profiles in the system. Notifications and communications are sent to the profile holding the Primary phone number.
Automatic Updates from Opera to AXP
AXP automatically adjusts its profiles to reflect updates made in Opera through the OHIP interface. For example:
If phone numbers are corrected or changed in Opera—such as ensuring each profile has a unique phone number—AXP will update its corresponding profiles to match the new data. This synchronization is seamless and minimizes manual intervention.
This automated update process helps maintain clean and accurate data between the two systems.
Ensuring Proper Primary Phone Number Mapping
To correctly map Opera’s Primary phone number to AXP, ensure the following steps are followed:
Verify that the profile in Opera has the correct phone number marked as Primary. This data will feed directly into the primary phone number field of the associated AXP profile.
Avoid duplicate phone numbers marked as Primary across multiple profiles. Merge or clean up such duplicates in Opera to ensure clarity in syncing with AXP.
Best Practices for Data Management
Always designate a single Primary phone number for each Opera profile.
Periodically review Opera profiles to eliminate duplicates or inconsistencies.
After updating profiles in Opera, verify the changes in AXP to confirm successful syncing.
Following these guidelines ensures smooth phone number management and synchronization between Opera PMS and AXP.
