Why Isn't My Updated Profile Photo Showing in My PMS/HMS?

Profile photo sync between your PMS/HMS and Alliants Experience Platform is one-way (receive-only). Here's why a photo updated in AXP won't appear back in your PMS/HMS.

Summary: Profile photo sync only runs in one direction — from your PMS/HMS into Alliants Experience Platform. A photo uploaded or changed on the AXP guest profile will not sync back out to your PMS/HMS.

Why is this happening?

Guest profile photos can be received automatically from a connected PMS/HMS (currently supported for Infor integrations).

When a guest record with a photo comes through, Alliants stores it as the profile's incoming avatar, which is then used for both guest-facing and staff-facing views on the platform.

However, there is currently no outbound path for photos. Every profile field that Alliants sends back to a PMS/HMS — such as name, gender, country, address, email, phone, and consents — has been built without an image/photo field. So, updating or replacing a photo on the AXP side has no effect on what's stored in the PMS/HMS.

What should I do if a photo needs to be updated?

Update the photo at the PMS/HMS source. Once it syncs through, the new photo will be received into the guest's AXP profile automatically. Uploading directly to the AXP profile only affects what's shown in AXP — it will not propagate anywhere else and may be overwritten on the next sync from the PMS/HMS.
